Bike gear calculator
Meters per pedal stroke and speed from cadence. Circumference is a typical value.
Worked example
Worked example: 33.9 km/h. Speed at this cadence. Development: 6.28 m. Gear inches: 78.7. Change the numbers and the result updates immediately.
How to use it
- Pick the wheel size closest to yours.
- Enter chainring teeth, cog teeth, and cadence.
- For an exact number, measure how many meters the wheel rolls in one turn.
Development is wheel circumference times chainring divided by cog. Speed is development times cadence. Gear inches use the same ratio. Measure your wheel rollout if you want the exact number: pressure and load move it.
