Critical power calculator cycling

Two maximal efforts, between 2 and 20 minutes, for an estimate. It is not a race plan.

Worked example

Worked example: 253 W. Critical power. Reserve: 32.0 kJ. Power at 5 minutes: 360 W. Model fit: 1.00. Change the numbers and the result updates immediately.

How to use it

  1. You need two maximal efforts, of different lengths, between 2 and 20 minutes.
  2. Enter minutes and average watts for each. A third effort makes the estimate steadier.
  3. Do not use sprints. This is not a race plan.

The model says work is critical power times time, plus a reserve. You need maximal efforts of different lengths, about 2 to 20 minutes: sprints do not fit. A third effort makes the estimate more stable. You can then read power at 5 minutes and how long you last above critical power. For pace on a GPX, use Kyrie.
